The validity of the 5- years Visa Exemption Certificate

A Visa Exemption Certificate is valid for a maximum period of 05 years. With Visa Exemption Certificate, passengers can stay in Vietnam for a maximum period of 180 days for each visit, and the duration of stay can be extended in Vietnam for a maximum period of another 180 days.

Who will be granted a Visa Exemption Certificate?

•  Foreigners whose spouse is a Vietnamese citizen
•  Foreigners whose parent is a Vietnamese citizen.
•  Foreigners of Vietnamese origin
•  Foreign passports holder who had Vietnamese nationality, but currently,no longer have a Vietnamese nationality.

Required Documents for visa exemption certificate application

•  Original passport (with the minimum remaining validity of over 5 years, if the passport duration is not more than 5 years, a visa exemption certificate is issued according to the duration of the passport)
•  One of the following documents depending on the case.

 -  Marriage certificate / Family relationship certificate for foreigners with Vietnamese spouses;

 -  Birth certificate or another equivalent document for a foreigner whose parent is a Vietnamese citizen;

 -  Papers proving Vietnamese origin for people of Vietnamese origin or people who have had Vietnamese nationality before.
