When you are in Vietnam and your visa is expired, you can choose to extend visa or renew visa. The extension and renewal are due to the desire of foreigners or the type of visa that the Immigration Authority of Vietnam allows to extend or renew.

1. What is visa extension?

Visa extension allowed foreigners can stay in Viet Nam for a prescribed time without leaving the country.

When you extension your visa, you will have a new extension stamp with the new expiration date on your passport.

Note: Visa extension stamp has no longer valid once you leaving Viet Nam.

If foreigners overstay, they will have to pay for the overstaying fines and being taken on black list of the Vietnam Immigration Department.
